New trailer says "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark," but its actions speak otherwise (video)

Guillermo del Toro may have left The Hobbit, but he's already gracing us with his presence. And he couldn't come soon enough. There hasn't been a good horror film since Paranormal Activity. Don't Be Afraid of the Dark is a remake of a 1973 made-for-TV movie that aired on ABC. It's about a girl (the lovely Bailee Madison) who discovers creatures living in the house her and her father (Guy Pearce) (Katie Holmes) just moved into. Katie Holmes plays Dad's girlfriend. At first she thinks the creatures are nice, but learns that they aren't what they seem. Small strange creatures never are; it's the small hands--dead giveaway.

Don't Be Afraid of the Dark, which is not to be confused with the amazing children's show Are You Afraid of the Dark?, hits theaters January 21, 2011.
