Preparing for 'Game of Thrones' Season 2 - April can't come fast enough

I watch a lot of television, so I feel that by default, I end up watching a lot ofbad television. But Games of Thrones is not one of those shows. If you’ve already seen the first season then you probably know that by now. As it is, I’ve yet to meet anyone that didn’t like Game of Thrones so far (and by anyone, I mean those that consider themselves fans of genre media). I liked the show so much that I ended up buying the novel that it was based on by George R.R. Martin. I think I finished it within a week, and it’s no short story. Regardless, I’d also recommend reading the books too.

'Rock of Ages' trailer - Tom Cruise gets crazy as an 80s rocker

The first trailer for the Tom Cruise 80’s revival Rock of Ages is now online and I can’t wait to see it! If the concept of Footloose (the original), Studio 54, and This is Spinal Tap all rolled into one doesn’t get your drainpipe jeans and permed hair wet then you were clearly born in the 90’s!

Dark days ahead for The Dark Knight - Does Nolan have an ace up his sleeve?

The latest Dark Night Rises teaser poster has hit the web this weekend and it’s not looking good for the bat. The poster shows a seemingly victorious Bane, played by Tom Hardy, walking away from a shattered Batman mask lying on the ground in the pouring rain, with the tagline, “The Legend Ends.”

So is it the end of Batman? It’s certainly the end of the Christopher Nolan/ Christian Bale era. With Nolan admitting that this is the last of a trilogy and Bale saying last week that having finished filming his character’s scenes it’s “the last time I’m taking that cowl off.” No ambiguity there.

'The Three Stooges' trailer - Something's missing

The Three Stooges has been in development by the Farrelly Brothers (Dumb and Dumber, There’s Something About Mary) for some time, and the duo has even described it as a lifelong dream, but I’m just not laughing. The three actors playing Moe (Chris Diamantopoulos), Larry (Sean Hayes), and Curly (Will Sasso) all do decent immitations of their predecessors, but the physical comedy schtick, which is still so funny if you watch the original shorts, doesn’t translate. Perhaps its the abundance of color or maybe a 2 minute trailer doesn’t do justice to that style of humor, but The Three Stooges is looking more like a tragedy than a comedy.

'Battleship' trailer - It's like Transformers meets the open sea

If you loved the Transformers movies, you’re going to love this! At least, that’s the message I’m getting after watching the new trailer for Peter Berg’s Battleship. In some ways, it makes sense. Both are based on Hasbro toys. It’s just that I distinctly remember Battleship being about two warring armada’s, not a few ships and a ton of transforming aliens. Clearly, I’m behind the times.

'The Amazing Spider-Man' teaser poster - Marc Webb promises us The Untold Story

It’s hard to know what to think of Marc Webb’s Spider-Man reboot, The Amazing Spider-Man. Webb directed the fantastic 500 Days of Summer, starring Zoey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, but the first-person perspective of the trailer was somewhat strange, to say the least. Hopefully the film won’t end up being a drama mixed with a theme park ride, but we’ll have to wait and see. It’s looking like a darker film than the Sam Raimi trilogy, if nothing else. A tagline of “The untold story” also sounds interesting. Hopefully it will be something new.

'The Cabin in the Woods' trailer - Woodland horror gone sci-fi, courtesy of Joss Whedon

Just when I thought that I had seen every horror movie plot out there, and especially during a time when Hollywood seems to be caught up in what I lovingly refer to as The Era of Remakes, something comes out that actually surprises me. The Cabin in the Woods actually looks pretty good.

John Lasseter says Pixar's next movie "takes you inside the mind"

Pixar is one of the most successful and adventurous movie studios out there. Though we feared that it may fall into a sequel rut now that it’s owned by Disney, it looks like the studio already has another original project brewing after Brave. And guess what? It may also star a girl—or her mind, at least.

Batman SNL short - Steve Buscemi deals with the Dark Knight's tendency to disappear

The SNL Digital Shorts are hit or miss, but it’s always fun to see what strange idea Andy Samberg and his team come up with. Steve Buscemi hosted SNL this week. As it turns out, he makes a great Commissioner Gordon. In this short, Gordon deals with Batman’s (Andy Samberg) rather annoying knack for appearing and disappearing. And what shower scene would be complete without a hint of gay Aquaman?
