Disney sells Miramax, but not to Rob Lowe! (outrage)

Not even Rob Lowe's innate charisma and smashing good looks can top the dollar signs in Disney's eyes, it seems. The actor (with partners) was one of many groups bidding to purchase Miramax from Disney since the House of Mouse put the division up for sale some months ago. Miramax Films was sold to Filmyard Holding, an investor group led by Ronald Tutor.

Toy Story 3 merchandise expected to gross $2.4 billion this year

Pixar is a force to be reckoned with, it seems. The chart above shows the production budgets for each of the 11 Pixar films to be released. In a graphic below, you can see how much money they grossed at the box office. More interesting is how much side-revenue Disney rakes in. Cars has made $2 billion in merchandise sales since it came out in 2006 and Toy Story 3 is expected to bring home more than $2.4 billion this year alone.

Just when you think Rob Lowe has worn out his welcome on TV, he buys a movie company! What a crazy guy. PRINCE OF PERSIA is a colossal waste of time

Rating:  (Embarrassing)

If the Dagger of Time actually existed, I'd use it to go back and I'd stop Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time creator Jordan Mechner, Producer Jerry Bruckheimer, and Director Mike Newell from setting video game movies back another 10 years. What studio will want to back another video game film after this bombs? Though I've certainly seen worse, few normal human beings will enjoy Persia. What the hell happened?

Pixar cancels Pixar losing itself now that it's a part of Disney?

Newt, an original film, has gotten the axe in favor of a sequel flurry at Pixar. This is the first announced project that Pixar has cancelled. This news comes from Mike Bastoli of The Pixar Blog, who heard it from Disney archivist Dave Smith. Bastoli noticed that the film was no longer on an encyclopedia of Disney titles operated by Smith. Newt was announced in April 2008 at Disney/Pixar's Animation Presentation in New York City and was scheduled to be released in the summer of 2011.

AVATAR / POCAHONTAS trailer mash-up - check it out!

Watching a video like this should make me sad. Honestly though, it makes me want to watch Pocahontas. I didn't realize how well the visuals held up since 1996. What beautiful animation. Cameron may not be original, but he picks good movies to copy. Thanks to Sasha at AwardsDaily for tweeting this video. She has a good site. Randy Szuch is the creator.
