Pixar's 'John Carter' trailer looks amazing, and a lot like Prince of Persia

Who knew Mars looked so much like Persia. Disney-Pixar’s adaptation of John Carter of Mars is already looking quite amazing. This will be Pixar’s first foray into live-action film, with Andrew Stanton (Wall-E, Finding Nemo, A Bug’s Life) directing and Pixar trying its hand at realistic CGI for the first time. So far, the result looks amazing. At the same time, Film School Rejects are astute to point out that there really isn’t a lot of mars going on here. We haven’t yet seen any aliens or many unfamiliar locations. So far, it looks to be the Prince of Persia that Jerry Bruckheimer failed to produce last year, and then some.

ROBIN HOOD is a big lie, but "OK" action movie (review)

Rating: (Passable)

We're about to learn how much blatant fabrication movie audiences will endure. Robin Hood has almost nothing in common with the legendary tale it's based on, and I see no evidence that anyone involved in this film had a lick of interest in the legendary outlaw who stole from the rich and gave to the poor. Instead, we get a 45-year-old Russell Crowe (Robin) shooting and stabbing bands of Frenchmen in the forest. Don't get me wrong, this is a decent action flick, but Universal Pictures and Director Ridley Scott lied when they named it Robin Hood.

KICK-ASS is violent, hilarious, bloody, and all kinds of awesome

Rating:  (Masterpiece)

Is it violent? Sure. Is it morally reprehensible? Probably. Does it feature a young girl beating the hell out of people and getting beaten within an inch of her life? Yes. Will your girlfriend like it? This ain't The Notebook. Kick-Ass is hilarious and brutal. If you don't believe violent movies are ruining society (I, for one, think we'll be OK), it's also the best action/comedy since Zombieland.

Like Zombieland, Kick-Ass stars an awkward teenager who gets mixed up in an ever more violent situation. However, unlike Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg) from Zombieland, Dave Lizewski (Aaron Johnson) does not get caught up in the end of the world: he causes his own problems. Dave is kind of a nobody. He isn't a great athlete, and he isn't good at being a geek. Like most kids his age, he "simply exists," trying to make it through his days without hassle.
