First clip of 'The Amazing Spider-Man' shows a flustered Peter Parker

The first true trailer and information about Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man reboot was released last week, but today we got a look at a clip from the film. Unlike the trailer, this is a scene that plays in its entirety. Here, Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) is attempting to enter Gwen Stacy’s building to go to dinner, but is stopped by a doorman. Unlike Tobey Maguire’s more distant Parker, this one seems a lot more timid and flustered. His reactions to the situation are quite natural and if I were the doorman, I might be suspicious as well.

As is usually the case with Hollywood, the new design seems to have a grittier look to it with more detail than the Sam Raimi Spider-Man movies. It all looks a bit more rubbery, but it's cool how you can make out Peter Parker's eyes inside the mask, if you look hard enough. The previous mask (see below) looked a lot more spandex-ey. The Amazing Spider-Man hits theaters on July 3, 2012 and is being directed by Marc Webb, who made one of my favorite films, 500 Days of Summer

We've got a Spider-Man! It's...Andrew Garfield? (Media Round-Up)

Life's opportunities cannot be planned. Andrew Garfield learned that the other day when he was picked as the next Spider-Man and then paraded onto a stage surrounded by reporters a mere half hour later. The biggest news, however, is that the blogosphere has no opinion of the young British actor. Is he right for the role of Peter Parker? Can he fill Tobey Maguire's shoes? Is he too similar? Is he too boring? No one has much of an opinion, it seems. Odd.
