Who chooses Academy Award winners? Old white men

'Shame' trailer - Michael Fassbender plays a sex addict in new Steve McQueen film

Michael Fassbender is fast becoming an actor to watch. If you didn’t see him as Magneto in X-Men: First Class, you should check it out on DVD. In Shame, he reteams with writer/director Steve McQueen who helped him gain some indie cred back in 2008 with Hunger. The story revolves around a sex addict (Fassbender) who has an intricately controlled pattern of sexual indulgement. Unfortunately, it begins to unravel when his sister, played by Carey Mulligan, comes to stay with him indefinitely. The film must have a lot of sex in it, as the rating is NC-17.

Shame hits select theaters Dec. 2, 2011.

If you’ve seen Hunger let me know how it is. I haven’t had the chance to check it out.
