George Lucas to theatrically re-release all six Star Wars movies in 3D

George Lucas woke up today and realized that it's been almost five years since he graced us with a Star Wars movie. So, much like a day he woke up in 1996, the director has decided to theatrically re-release every Star Wars movie available, all six of them, in order, beginning with the prequels. Better yet, he's re-mastering them in 3D!

Fan of Calvin and Hobbs? Check this t-shirt out

This mash-up t-shirt comes from Chris Wahl. Pretty clever, though a bit sad. I wasn't a die hard, but I miss Calvin and Hobbs. I miss good Star Wars movies too. You can buy this guy at Red Bubble for about $20.

Star Wars + Queen = Midichlorian Rhapsody (video)

Wow...if you haven't seen the Star Wars prequels, you might want to watch Midichlorian Rhapsody instead. For those of you unaccustomed to face melting rock and roll, this is a parody of Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. "Midichlorian Rhapsody" parodies episodes 1-3 with a skill you don't usually find outside a Weird Al record. He tackled Episode 1 in "The Saga Begins." You can watch both videos below.

FoxTrot meets Inception

I've never been a huge FoxTrot fan, but this is damn clever. I think I've actually had this dream. Big thanks to TheOneRing for the link. Check out a lot more Bill Amend's comic online at FoxTrot.com. Click on the picture to enhance.

The Empire Strikes Back as a silent film (video)

Enough with all these talkie movies. This is The Empire Strikes Back as it was truly meant to be viewed: silently. College Humor, a site that was once just pictures of guys drinking and drawing penises on each other's faces, pushed this one out. Nice work.

Star Wars Uncut finished. Watch the Internet recreate Episode IV

I've said this before, but the popularity of Star Wars keeps rising on the Internet. Not a week goes by where I don't post something related to Star Wars, be it a parody, fake trailer, picture of Chewbacca fighting nazis, etc.

Star Wars Uncut is a big fan project has finally come together. Using hundreds, perhaps thousands, of submissions from Lucas fans around the net, Uncut recreates the entire movie in 15 second clips. Remarkably, if you've seen Star Wars enough, it's pretty fun to watch. The full movie isn't yet available (legal stuff), but a hefty clip is, which I've embedded below.

Both Star Wars trilogies are coming to Blu-ray with this crappy deleted scene (video)

The older Star Wars gets, the more it seems to pop up in my news feed. At "Star Wars Celebratioin V" in Orlando, Florida last week, Jon Stewart interviewed George Lucas about his awesomeness. The big news of the night: both Star Wars trilogies are coming to Blu-ray in 2011. Oh, and they showed a "deleted scene" from Return of the Jedi where Darth Vader, via the Force, asks an overly veiled Luke to join the dark side as the Jedi tinkers with his new green lightsaber. It is embedded below for your viewing pleasure.

Darth Vader Batman?

This was drawn by Erin Fife in 2007. Is this a hero or villain? Would he fight crime in Gotham or Jedis in space? When did he live? Long ago? Does he have a son named Robin? This drawing raises more questions than Chewbacca fighting Nazis on a giant squirrel.

Thanks to /Film for the link.

Blackstar Warrior, a blaxploitation Star Wars prequel about Lando Calrissian

Well, color me black. I thought classic blaxploitation ended in the late 70s, but George Lucas never got the memo. Blackstar Warrior follows Lando Calrissian on a prequel adventure in the Star Wars universe. It's no Sweet Sweetback's Baadasssss Song, but it's damn close. The fake trailer is below.

Watch: every lightsaber ignition and retraction and a cockatiel sing the Imperial March (video)

Star Wars videos are neverending. Only two days ago I posted Darth Schwarzenegger and now two more videos have crept up the popularity vines of the interweb. The first video chronologically shows every single lightsaber ignition in the six Star Wars films, and then every retraction in reverse order. The most interesting part for me was listening to the sound and speed of lightsabers evolve as George Lucas began using them more and more frequently. The second video is a Cockatiel singing the Imperial March. Enjoy!
