'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey' trailer - What's there and what's missing

I’ve missed Middle Earth. It’s been 10 years since The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring hit theaters, and we’re still a year away from the first Hobbit movie’s release, but at least we now know things are looking up. A few hours ago, Peter Jackson released the first trailer for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, which is the first of two films based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s first novel about Middle Earth, The Hobbit. The journey stars Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins with Ian McKellen returning as Gandalf the Wizard and takes place about 50-60 years before Lord of the Rings

'The Amazing Spider-Man' teaser poster - Marc Webb promises us The Untold Story

It’s hard to know what to think of Marc Webb’s Spider-Man reboot, The Amazing Spider-Man. Webb directed the fantastic 500 Days of Summer, starring Zoey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, but the first-person perspective of the trailer was somewhat strange, to say the least. Hopefully the film won’t end up being a drama mixed with a theme park ride, but we’ll have to wait and see. It’s looking like a darker film than the Sam Raimi trilogy, if nothing else. A tagline of “The untold story” also sounds interesting. Hopefully it will be something new.

Teaser trailer for Marvel's "The Avengers" leaked online

This Friday, Marvel fans will be rewarded with the well-anticipated Captain America: The First Avenger, with an added bonus: the first teaser trailer for Joss Whedon's The Avengers tacked on after the credits, in true Marvel style. (I'm still bummed that there was no bonus scene at the end of X-Men: First Class.)

Of course, we live in the year 2011, so, naturally, a fan-recorded version of the trailer has been up on YouTube since yesterday.

Watch the video after the jump. Spoiler alert: Its so awesome.

The Dark Knight Rises teaser poster revealed

We're about one year away from the release of the final installment of the Batman Begins trilogy: The Dark Knight Rises. While I'm not huge on the name, I can't help but get excited at even the smallest bit of information. Warner Bros. has released the first teaser poster for the movie, and it looks like it could belong to Inception. We can only wonder if the third film in the trilogy will have a mental edge to it.

We do know that the villain Bane (Thomas Hardy) is in the film, and the cast now includes Marion Cotillard, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Anne Hathaway. Supposedly, we should see a trailer before Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 later this week. Consider us "stoked."

New J.J. Abrams/Spielberg SUPER 8 teaser trailer arrives (video)

These videos keep getting taken down, but here is the teaser trailer for the upcoming Steven Spielberg produced and J.J. Abrams directed action flick, Super 8. It debuted with Iron Man 2 at midnight last night. The title refers to the brand of the 8 mm camcorder that supposedly records the event. This appears to be a merger of Spielberg style action films and J.J. Abrams Cloverfield project (a favorite of mine). Abrams is very hot right now, producing last year's Star Trek and a number of successful TV shows including Lost, Fringe, Felicity, Alias, and the upcoming series Undercovers. He also wrote Joy Ride and Armageddon. Not bad.

This looks fun, though Deadline reports that it hasn't begun shooting yet. Super 8 is scheduled to hit theaters next summer. What do you guys think?
