First clip of 'The Amazing Spider-Man' shows a flustered Peter Parker

The first true trailer and information about Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man reboot was released last week, but today we got a look at a clip from the film. Unlike the trailer, this is a scene that plays in its entirety. Here, Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) is attempting to enter Gwen Stacy’s building to go to dinner, but is stopped by a doorman. Unlike Tobey Maguire’s more distant Parker, this one seems a lot more timid and flustered. His reactions to the situation are quite natural and if I were the doorman, I might be suspicious as well.

The Amazing Spider-Man is undoubtedly one of the biggest movies coming out this year, but there are a lot of people who still don’t quite know how it ties in with Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy. Is it a remake? A reboot? A sequel? Well, from what we’re hearing about the sneak preview, new shots, and Director Mark Webb (500 Days of Summer) himself, it sounds like the new film is a completely different take on Spider-Man. The new trailer confirms it.

'The Amazing Spider-Man' teaser poster - Marc Webb promises us The Untold Story

It’s hard to know what to think of Marc Webb’s Spider-Man reboot, The Amazing Spider-Man. Webb directed the fantastic 500 Days of Summer, starring Zoey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, but the first-person perspective of the trailer was somewhat strange, to say the least. Hopefully the film won’t end up being a drama mixed with a theme park ride, but we’ll have to wait and see. It’s looking like a darker film than the Sam Raimi trilogy, if nothing else. A tagline of “The untold story” also sounds interesting. Hopefully it will be something new.

First look at The Amazing Spider-Man's mask

Filmonic has posted a first look at Spider-Man's mask and suit in The Amazing Spider-Man, the upcoming reboot of the series previously starring Toby Maguire. As is usually the case with Hollywood, the new design seems to have a grittier look to it with more detail than the Sam Raimi Spider-Man movies. It all looks a bit more rubbery, but it's cool how you can make out Peter Parker's eyes inside the mask, if you look hard enough. The previous mask (see below) looked a lot more spandex-ey. The Amazing Spider-Man hits theaters on July 3, 2012 and is being directed by Marc Webb, who made one of my favorite films, 500 Days of Summer
